Norbrook Opti-Mag Bolus: Targeted Magnesium Supplementation for Cattle and Sheep

The Norbrook Opti-Mag Bolus is a specialized magnesium supplement designed for the prevention and treatment of grass tetany (hypomagnesaemia) in dairy cattle and sheep. This bolus contains essential magnesium and is administered orally through a specifically designed bolus gun.

Key Features:

• Prevention and Treatment: The Opti-Mag Bolus is formulated to prevent and treat cases of grass tetany in cattle and sheep, which can occur during risk periods such as after calving and when animals are grazing lush early spring grass.

• Suitable for Cattle and Sheep: This bolus is suitable for use with both cattle and sheep, providing versatility for livestock owners.

• Oral Administration: The boluses are administered orally using a specially designed bolus gun, ensuring precise and effective delivery of the supplement.

• Safe and Easy to Use: Administering the boluses is a straightforward process with the bolus gun, and precautions are taken to avoid injury to the mouth and pharynx. It is essential to ensure that the animal swallows the boluses.

• Appropriate for Adult Cattle: The boluses are intended for use with cattle weighing at least 300kg.

Administration Instructions:

1. Load the bolus gun by inserting the bolus into the open end.

2. Open the animal's mouth, and gently introduce the bolus gun until the bolus is positioned at the back of the tongue. Avoid applying severe pressure to the tongue.

3. Depress the plunger to release the bolus onto the rear part of the tongue, initiating a swallowing action.

4. Carefully withdraw the bolus gun from the mouth.

5. Administer a second bolus following the same procedure.

6. Observe each animal for a short time after administration to ensure the boluses have not been regurgitated.

Preventing and addressing magnesium deficiencies in cattle and sheep is crucial for their overall health and well-being. The Norbrook Opti-Mag Bolus offers a targeted solution for livestock owners to manage grass tetany effectively.
